Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he is ready to apologise to Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin over claims Muhyiddin defended granting subsidies to foreigners—if proven untrue.
Anwar Open to Apologising to Muhyiddin if Subsidy Claim Proven False
Speaking in Parliament, Anwar said he is awaiting Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) findings to verify his three information sources, one of which has already been confirmed false.
The allegation, made last week, referred to a TikTok video and remarks allegedly supporting subsidies for foreigners. Muhyiddin has denied the claim. Opposition MPs questioned Anwar on the matter, while the investigation raises concerns about the spread of false information on social media.
