The Court of Appeal has upheld the 12-year prison sentence for Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali over the neglect and abuse of a teenage girl with Down syndrome known as Bella. The abuse occurred four years ago when Bella was 13.

A three-judge panel, comprising Datuk Azman Abdullah, Datuk Azmi Ariffin, and Datuk Hayatul Akmal Abdul Aziz, dismissed Siti Bainun’s final appeal against both her conviction and sentence. The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court had initially sentenced her on May 3, 2023. Judge Izralizam Sanusi found her guilty of two counts of neglect and abuse under child protection laws.
