Mother and Son Die in Suspected Food Poisoning After Tawau Wedding

TAWAU — A 36-year-old woman and her nine-year-old son died on Tuesday (Aug 12), believed to be from food poisoning after attending a wedding in a village here. The victims experienced diarrhoea and vomiting before their deaths. A police report was lodged by a relative, who said the two had attended the wedding last Saturday and brought food home.

The woman’s husband also fell ill after eating the food, while preliminary investigations found other guests suffered similar symptoms. “The Health Ministry is still investigating the actual cause of the food poisoning. A forensic team from Sabah police headquarters also investigated the scene,” police said.
