PENANG: DAP’s Penang branch and lawyer Zaid Malek gathered today at a hardware store to counter Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh over a Jalur Gemilang controversy. The dispute began when the national flag was hung upside down, prompting 38 police reports. The shop owner said it was an unintentional mistake. DAP distributed flags to promote unity, while Zaid urged peace. Akmal, who earlier planned to “teach” the owner how to display the flag, cancelled after DAP installed a giant flag, saying he would instead “see flags and eat nasi kandar,” despite police calls to cancel rallies.
