KEPALA BATAS – Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh led over 200 people in a peaceful march protesting an upside-down Jalur Gemilang incident at a local hardware store. Marching 1.4km while chanting patriotic slogans, Dr Akmal said the flag is sacred and must be respected, stressing the protest was non-political. Representatives from Bersatu and PAS joined, singing the national anthem. Tensions rose when Lawyers For Liberty director Zaid Malek arrived with placards opposing “bullying,” prompting a brief war of words. Zaid called the protest intimidation, saying the flag’s placement was an honest mistake and the shop owner faced undue harassment.
