Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail has expressed her readiness to serve until the end of her term but is prepared to step aside for another PKR candidate in GE16 if the party decides so. Her comments follow confirmation that Tengku Zafrul Aziz, who left Umno in May, has joined PKR’s Ampang division, sparking speculation about the seat’s future.

Rodziah, who won Ampang in GE15 with a 29,681-vote majority, urged against turning the constituency into a “sacrificial seat.” While acknowledging rumours that Zafrul may contest in Ampang, she stressed that all decisions should wait until the current term ends, pledging to respect party choices.
If the sole purpose is to create space and pave the way early by asking any MP or assemblyman to step aside, I think that is unreasonable,” said Rodziah, who won the Ampang seat in the 2022 general election (GE15).
