DAP central executive committee member V Papparaidu downplayed calls to cut ties with Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh over the Jalur Gemilang issue, saying such a move could strain DAP’s broader relationship with Umno and threaten unity government stability. He said the matter will be discussed by the party’s top leadership but stressed that political decisions must be carefully considered.
Papparaidu stressed that grassroots voices must be heard but cautioned against rash moves. He also criticised Akmal for pressuring police over the flag issue, saying all politicians must respect due process and avoid undermining enforcement agencies.
