Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir has outlined a proposed two-pronged coalition strategy to address Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) weak non-Malay support. He said PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin suggested forming a “loose” coalition with smaller parties like Muda, PSM, Waytha Moorthy’s Malaysian Advancement Party, and P Ramasamy’s Urimai to contest 50–60 urban and suburban seats. The plan would see PN focus on Malay votes while the new coalition canvasses non-Malay support, aiming to split the electorate. Mukhriz admitted compromises were necessary, citing past rivalries, but political analysts doubted the proposal’s viability as long as PN maintained its Malay-Muslim dominance.
