Akmal has drawn fire for stoking tensions over two upside-down Jalur Gemilang incidents, echoing his role in last year’s KK Mart “Allah” socks controversy. Critics noted Anwar only spoke after Akmal, Umno Youth, and Bersatu Youth staged a rally in Penang that shuttered shops. Although police have summoned Akmal, past probes, including for sedition, ended without charges, raising doubts about enforcement.
