Recently, netizens are discussing the Selangor Islamic Religious Department’s remarks that only Halal restaurants are allowed to use “no pork, no lard” signs. Typically, such signs are used for non-Halal restaurants that do not serve pork or use lard.

Additionally, some users shared their confusion regarding the matter. They asked that if a restaurant is “Halal,” why would they use the sign “no pork, no lard” in order to entice customers? Netizens state that if those who are particular with the Halal status of the food in an establishment, it is best to look for said logo.
Others state that such signs can be misleading as some beef and chicken may not be Halal, hence some of the Muslim consumers being more cautious when they eat at an establishment.
