PETALING JAYA: Sarawak’s proposal to use English as the medium of instruction for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects will be tabled tomorrow at a Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) technical committee meeting, said Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof. He noted that the move could challenge national curriculum uniformity but stressed that a solution must be found. The Dual-Language Programme (DLP) and the Sarawak Cancer Centre are also on the agenda. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously highlighted the importance of English proficiency and STEM reforms to strengthen Malaysia’s competitiveness, urging wider adoption of the DLP in schools.
