SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced that Singapore will treat vaping as a drug issue, imposing much tougher penalties including jail for offenders and harsher punishments for those selling vapes with harmful substances. Speaking at the National Day Rally, Wong said current fines are no longer enough, with vaping rampant among youths despite its ban. A nationwide education campaign will be launched in schools, universities, and National Service, led by the health and home affairs ministries. Wong highlighted growing risks from vapes, many laced with dangerous substances like etomidate, stressing the need to prevent even more harmful drugs emerging.
