KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 — MIC has clarified that its informal discussions with Perikatan Nasional (PN) do not indicate a withdrawal of support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government. Secretary-general S Ananthan said MIC remains committed to backing Anwar until the administration completes its term, stressing that “the issue of retracting support should not arise.” MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran had earlier confirmed exploratory talks with PN as the party reviews its political direction, amid grassroots calls in Kedah and Penang to consider aligning with PN. MIC holds one parliamentary seat.
