University of Cyberjaya Ranked Among Malaysia’s Top 5 for Internal Quality Assurance
"Recognition for internal quality assurance is a clear indicator that a university is actively safeguarding its academic integrity and the value of its qualifications," says Professor Dr. David Whitford, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cyberjaya.

Cyberjaya, 18 August 2025 – The University of Cyberjaya (UoC) has been ranked among the Top 5 universities in Malaysia for Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) in the 2025 Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Higher Education Provider Excellence Awards. This is a testament to the University’s commitment to good governance and continuous improvement in academic quality.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr David Whitford described the award as a significant milestone for the University: “Award for internal quality assurance is a sure sign that a university is fighting to defend its academic integrity and the value of its qualifications. For us, it’s about ensuring our graduates are not only academically capable, but Changemakers who can influence industries, communities and the future of their professions.”

The MQA, under the Ministry of Higher Education, places great emphasis on IQA in their awards, accrediting institutions that are at the forefront of accountability, transparency and excellence. This accreditation means students and parents can be assured UoC qualifications are backed up by high standards and processes, while for employers it means the University’s students graduate with good skills, professional preparation and high ethical standards.

At UoC, quality assurance is part of the University’s culture rather than a mere compliance exercise. The Vice Chancellor has direct line reports from the Quality Management and Enhancement Centre, which leads all IQA activities so that quality is embedded in all decision making. The University has 20 Heads of Quality and 53 internal auditors who have been trained to undertake regular ISO 9001:2015-compliant audits, risk reviews and improvement programmes.

Feedback and data are also at the heart of the process. UoC has Management Review Meetings annually where academic and administrative leadership come together to review audit findings, student feedback and performance metrics. Through these discussions the University gets to enhance evidence-based improvements in teaching, learning and overall student experience.

As competition for higher education intensifies, IQA is a measure of an institution’s ability to stay relevant and strong. National recognition by UoC proves the power of good quality practice to transcend academic tradition and the challenges of the world, preparing graduates to succeed wherever their journey may take them.

As Malaysia continues to position itself as a regional hub for education, the emphasis on IQA ensures that universities can compete globally while maintaining public trust. UoC’s achievement at the MQA Awards 2025 serves as both an endorsement of its current practices and a call to action for the sector to embrace quality assurance as a driver of innovation, growth and societal impact.
