RMAF Confirms F/A-18D Hornet Accident in Kuantan, Crew Safe

PETALING JAYA: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has confirmed an accident involving one of its F/A-18D Hornet fighter jets at Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport, Kuantan, at 9.05pm on Aug 21. In a statement, RMAF said immediate action was being taken and updates would follow. A video showing an explosion during the jet’s take-off has since gone viral on social media. Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman confirmed both the pilot and co-pilot escaped unharmed in the incident, which has drawn wide attention online. Investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
