Malaysian Schools Recognized for Mental Health Innovations

Kuala Lumpur, Aug 21, 2025 — Twelve schools from Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Terengganu received RM11,400 in prizes for innovative mental health initiatives under the MINDSHIFT Competition, led by LeapEd Services and Yayasan Hasanah. The programme trained 198 teachers across 71 schools, reaching 35,000 students. SMK Kuala Jenderis’ “Juggek D’Bamboo” increased student happiness by 5% using healing spaces. SK Air Baruk’s “Let’s Move It” boosted awareness of exercise’s mental health benefits from 68% to 97%. SK Pelangai’s “Fun SPel” raised attendance from 88% to 92%. These efforts address Malaysia’s growing children’s mental health crisis, emphasizing scalable, school-based solutions.
