PETALING JAYA: Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli cautioned that falling petrol prices do not necessarily mean a drop in the cost of necessities. In a Facebook video, the Pandan MP said factors like raw material costs, wages, supply chain expenses and competition also shape prices. He urged the government to enforce laws against profiteering and promote transparent pricing practices to protect consumers. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently announced RON95 fuel will drop to RM1.99 per litre, alongside a one-off RM100 Rahmah Necessities Aid. Rafizi said price stability requires government oversight, trader responsibility, and consumer awareness in an open market.
