The police and home ministry have been urged to review protocols for managing rallies after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim affirmed that peaceful assemblies may continue outside Parliament with proper security and traffic control. 

Human Rights Group: Traffic Should Not Override Protest Rights

Human rights group Suaram called for proportionate responses, such as negotiated traffic diversions, instead of blanket restrictions. Suaram executive director Azura Nasron stressed that traffic inconvenience should not override the right to assemble, and the government must actively facilitate such gatherings. 

The appeal comes after more than 100 plantation workers marched to Parliament last week, during which clashes occurred, leaving one activist and a police officer injured.
