Police nab 11,864 suspects in RM1.5b fraud cases this year

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Police have arrested 11,864 individuals linked to 31,949 fraud cases involving RM1.5 billion in losses this year, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said today. The arrests followed nearly 10,000 operations by the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK). Praising their efforts, Saifuddin said the unit’s expertise safeguards the nation’s economy and boosts public trust in security institutions. He also urged police to enhance skills in using artificial intelligence to fight cybercrime, adding that the government is committed to modernising infrastructure and strengthening cross-sector cooperation.
