Malaysia has set its sights on being ranked among the world’s 12 most competitive nations by 2030, Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong told the Dewan Negara.
Malaysia Climbs to 23rd in World Competitiveness Ranking 2025
The target, outlined in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), is measured by the World Competitiveness Ranking (WCR), which evaluates 330 indicators across four pillars: economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure.
Malaysia climbed 11 places to 23rd in the 2025 WCR. Liew said progress will be driven by pragmatic policies, the Government Service Efficiency Commitment Act 2025, and annual productivity growth, with a strong focus on human capital and innovation.
