On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a 23-year-old man named Robin Westman carried out a shooting at Annunciation Church in southern Minneapolis, which also houses a school for students aged 5-14. The attack occurred during Mass, with the assailant firing dozens of shots through the church windows using a rifle, shotgun, and pistol. Two children, aged 8 and 10, were killed, and 17 people were injured, including 14 children, all of whom are expected to survive. A smoke bomb was found at the scene, and no bullet casings were located inside the building, suggesting all shots may have come from outside.
