WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for billionaire George Soros and his son Alex to face criminal charges, accusing them of backing “violent protests.” Writing on Truth Social, Trump claimed the Soros family should be prosecuted under RICO laws, repeating long-standing conspiracy theories debunked by fact-checkers. The Hungarian-born philanthropist, 95, has long been targeted by the far right over his support for progressive causes. Trump, who previously linked Soros to his 2024 hush money trial, warned: “Be careful, we’re watching you.” Soros handed control of his Open Society Foundations to his son in 2023.
