New: Malaysian Employment Agent Jailed for Offending Domestic Worker at Singapore Carpark

SINGAPORE: A 37-year-old Malaysian employment agent was sentenced to 12 years’ jail and 12 strokes of the cane on Aug 29 for s3xu4lly assaulting a 24-year-old domestic worker at a multi-storey carpark in 2022. He had been tasked with bringing her to her new employer’s home but stopped at the wrong address, where he committed the offence. Two other charges involving inappropriate conduct, including one with another worker in 2021, were considered in sentencing. The man, who worked as a senior sales adviser, cannot be named due to a gag order protecting the victims’ identities.
