KUALA LUMPUR — MCA Sabah Youth chief Roger Yapp has refuted allegations by DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) that MCA and UMNO Youth were merely “following Perikatan Nasional’s lead” in rejecting the Urban Renewal Bill. Roger argued that the accusation was selective and double-standard, noting that seven PKR MPs and several BN MPs also withheld support for the bill. He stressed that MCA rejected the bill due to unfair mechanisms, not the concept of urban renewal. Roger further criticised DAP for failing to propose amendments internally despite being part of the unity government. “MCA will remain rational and constructive,” he said.
