A Form 6 student in Kedah was detained at the Malaysia–Thailand border after testing positive for drugs upon returning from Dannok. The girl admitted she had followed her 25-year-old boyfriend to Thailand out of fear he might cheat on her and took ecstasy “for fun.”

Kedah National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) director Khairul Anwar said the student was among 23 individuals who tested positive during an enforcement operation at the Bukit Kayu Hitam ICQS complex from August 31 to September 1. She is being investigated under Section 3(1)(a) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.
