PETALING JAYA: Political analysts say PAS should step up as the leading faction in Perikatan Nasional (PN) by naming its own prime ministerial candidate for GE16. With dominance in Parliament and control of four states, PAS has the political strength to lead rather than remain a supporting partner, argued analyst Sayuti Omar in a FMT article. He stressed that refusing to name a “poster boy” raises doubts about PAS’ confidence in its leadership. Analysts added PAS must demonstrate readiness to guide PN’s future direction, instead of allowing Bersatu to dictate leadership, ensuring voters see PAS as the true driver of the coalition.
