GEORGETOWN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Penang arrested five policemen, including a senior officer, for allegedly soliciting and receiving bribes to avoid taking action against stolen motorcycles. Sources said the suspects, aged between their 20s and 40s, were detained between 2pm and 5pm while giving statements at the state MACC office. Initial investigations revealed that one of them allegedly received around RM9,000 in cash from a workshop owner during an operation in Seberang Perai last Friday. Penang MACC director S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrests, adding the case is being probed under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
