Malaysia Expands SARA Cash Aid and Subsidy Schemes to Ease Living Costs 2276. RM50 Million Spent on First Day of SARA Despite System Glitches

Transactions under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid programme reached RM110 million in just two days, involving purchases by more than 1.7 million recipients nationwide. The Ministry of Finance (MOF) reported that as of 9.30 pm yesterday, RM60 million had been spent by over 900,000 recipients.

System upgrades boosted MyKasih’s capacity, processing 20% more transactions on the second day, though congestion persisted at urban hypermarkets during peak hours. To ease issues, MyKasih deployed personnel at outlets and advised the public to shop outside busy periods. The one-off RM100 credit remains valid until December 31 at over 7,300 outlets nationwide.
