KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 — Sessions Court Judge Azura Alwi advised G. Gnanaraja, a key witness in Lim Guan Eng’s corruption trial, to apply for protection through the MACC or police instead of the court. Gnanaraja said he was unfit to testify due to injuries and trauma from a recent robbery. The judge ruled the robbery irrelevant, striking it from the record. Defence lawyers argued the trial’s credibility must remain intact, while prosecutors assured security concerns would be addressed. The hearing was postponed to Aug 27–28, when the final MACC investigating officer will testify.
