A new Vehicle Access Management System (VAMS) is being trialled at KLIA to manage congestion at drop-off and pick-up points. Starting Sept 1 at KLIA Terminal 1 and Sept 15 at Terminal 2, vehicles will be allowed a 10-minute grace period for drop-offs or pick-ups, tracked automatically via entry and exit barriers.

No penalty fees will apply during the Sept–Nov trial, as Malaysia Airports studies traffic flow and driver behaviour. The initiative aims to reduce jams, improve safety, and enhance the traveller experience ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026. Adjustments may follow before penalties are introduced later.
