Large-Scale Raid Nets 770 Undocumented Workers in Bukit Bintang

The Immigration Department detained 770 undocumented migrants during a large-scale raid in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, last night. The operation, known as Op Belanja, involved 106 officers from the Putrajaya Immigration Department and targeted restaurants, shops, and houses following weeks of complaints.

A total of 2,445 individuals were inspected, with 762 men and 8 women arrested, including nationals from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, India, and Indonesia. Some were found without valid documents, overstaying visas, or carrying fake identification. The detainees were brought to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for screening before being sent to detention depots. Investigations are ongoing under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
