Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has warned TikTok of potential legal action over its failure to address government concerns on harmful content and online safety. He said despite repeated engagements, the company has yet to improve content moderation, particularly for Tamil-language posts, curb cyberbullying, or prevent underage users from accessing the app.

From January to August, 76,002 pieces of content were removed, but 10,730 flagged posts remained online. Fahmi accused TikTok of ignoring government requests and withholding moderator figures, especially after the Rajeswary Appahu cyberbullying case. The MCMC is now studying enforcement measures if TikTok fails to act.
