KUALA LUMPUR — Bersatu expects Malaysia’s 16th General Election (GE16) to take place next year, possibly alongside several state elections. Its secretary-general, Mohamed Azmin Ali, cited weaknesses in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration, particularly in handling economic issues and public welfare, as reasons a fresh mandate may be sought. Speaking at Bersatu’s 8th Annual General Assembly, Azmin highlighted rising living costs, the Urban Renewal Act debate, and social concerns such as bullying as pressing issues. He said the assembly will serve as a platform to strengthen party machinery and chart strategies with Perikatan Nasional partners ahead of GE16.
