The High Court has dismissed Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s contempt application against former attorney-general Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh, ruling the case lacked a prima facie basis. Judge Alice Loke Yee Ching said Najib’s claim that Terrirudin suppressed a royal addendum order rested on speculation without clear evidence. She explained that as a respondent in judicial review proceedings, the Attorney-General’s role is limited to addressing whether leave should be granted, not proving the order’s existence. The judge also cited Najib’s reliance on subsequent events and his delay in filing the application as fatal to his case, awarding RM20,000 costs to Terrirudin.
