KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 — PKR lawmaker Rafizi Ramli has cautioned Malaysian leaders to heed lessons from Indonesia’s recent turmoil, where strong economic growth failed to translate into fair wages and affordable living. He said macroeconomic indicators alone are insufficient if ordinary citizens continue to struggle with stagnant salaries and rising living costs. Rafizi stressed that resentment deepens when elites flaunt wealth, warning that public anger could similarly erupt in Malaysia. “The greatest lesson is for politicians,” he said, urging fairer income distribution and accountability to prevent the same discontent from taking root.
