KOTA KINABALU, Sept 5 — A forensic pathologist told the inquest into the death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir that she could not determine whether the teenager’s fall was accidental or intentional. Dr Jessie Hiu, the first of 68 witnesses, explained her role was to outline injuries and possible causes, not intent. Demonstrating with a mannequin, she said Zara’s injuries suggested she landed on her feet before falling backward and striking her head. Dr Hiu added that minor bruises from light assaults could have gone undetected as the examination occurred weeks later. The inquest continues before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan.
