KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 — Former UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has stressed that his political future should be measured by his ability to serve the people, not by party affiliation. The former health minister made the statement on Instagram, responding to a news report suggesting his future remained tied to UMNO and speculation that he sought to return after his expulsion in January 2023 for breaching party discipline during the 15th general election. UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party has yet to receive any formal appeal from Khairy regarding reinstatement.
