US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order granting tariff exemptions to trading partners that reach reciprocal trade deals with Washington. Starting Monday, more than 45 categories of goods—including nickel, gold, graphite, LEDs, and key pharmaceutical compounds—will qualify for zero tariffs if imported from aligned nations.

The move aims to reduce trade deficits while rewarding partners such as Japan and the EU that commit to new industrial export agreements. Goods considered vital but scarce in the US will also be exempt. However, exemptions for certain plastics and polysilicon used in solar panels have been scrapped under the directive.
