ECRL Developer Warns Thefts Could Delay Mega Rail Project

China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd has warned that repeated thefts of key components along the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) may delay the project’s completion. In recent weeks, over 1,600 metres of contact wire were stolen between Temerloh, Lanchang, and Bentong, following earlier cable and transformer thefts in June.

The company said the losses not only increase repair costs but risk slowing progress, as custom-made parts take months to replace. Police reports have been lodged, with investigations ongoing. The 665km project developer urged public vigilance, warning against buying stolen parts and calling on citizens to report suspicious activities.
