‘Klik Sebelum Gerak’ Campaign Pushes for Safer Journeys

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will soon enforce mandatory seatbelt use for all drivers and passengers in private vehicles nationwide, said director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli. The move is being introduced under the “Klik Sebelum Gerak” campaign, aimed at strengthening road safety culture.

Offenders risk fines of up to RM300 under the amended Motor Vehicles Rules 1978. Research by MIROS shows seatbelts cut passenger fatality risk by 50%. JPJ will intensify advocacy and inspections to ensure compliance, with enforcement details to be announced later. Seatbelt rules for express and tour buses have been enforced since July this year.
