GEORGE TOWN – The Penang branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) inspected a food premises at a Bayan Lepas shopping centre following a viral video alleging misuse of a halal certificate. Director S. Jegan said enforcement officers, together with the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIPP), found no JAKIM-issued halal logo or misleading representation at the outlet, which employed Myanmar workers. A related shop at Persiaran Gurney was also inspected. Operators were advised to comply with regulations and issued inspection notices. Monitoring continues amid concerns the certificate was removed after the viral incident.
