There have been several debates stemming from a Facebook post where someone who is making RM4,400 a month is spending over RM3,000 for loan repayments. One of the key problems here was the fact that he bought a house well above his means. The loan is for the next 30 years.

Netizen says those making RM5k below should not try to buy a house yet

Some are complaining that a large portion of Malaysians aren’t making RM5,000 or anywhere near it per month. They jumped to the conclusion that only the wealthy are able to afford to purchase a home.

Others state that it’s better to buy than to rent your home for the next few decades. However, the original poster states that if someone were to have difficulties in repaying their home, they should solve said problems themselves.
