PETALING JAYA — Malaysia’s women’s hockey team thrashed Thailand 6-2 in their Asia Cup 2025 classification match for fifth to eighth place in Hangzhou. Khairunnisa Ayuni Mohd Sharuddin opened scoring in the sixth minute, followed by goals from Nurmaizatul Hanim Syafi Shiek Fuad and Nuramirah Shakirah Zulkifli to secure a 3-1 halftime lead. After the break, Azmyra Mia Sofea Azhari struck before Thailand responded through Supansa Samanso. Malaysia sealed victory with goals from Nur Afiqah Syahzani Azhar and Nuramirah. Coach Nasihin Nubli praised the team’s discipline and effective penalty corners, urging focus ahead of their next clash with Taiwan.
