Urimai chairperson P Ramasamy has accused Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of hypocrisy over the violent eviction in Kampung Sungai Baru, claiming the premier showed his “true colours” by siding with police over displaced residents.

Ramasamy said Anwar condemned protesters as “troublemakers” while ignoring the suffering of those forced from their homes. The clash left Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman injured, prompting Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus to vow firm action against provocateurs. 

He further warned the incident foreshadows the dangers of the proposed Urban Renewal Bill (URA), echoing PAS’s concerns that it could empower developers to evict communities.
