PUTRAJAYA – The government has dismissed attempts to equate tensions over the redevelopment of Kampung Sungai Baru with riots in Indonesia and Nepal. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said such comparisons are misleading and irresponsible, stressing Malaysia’s priority is to safeguard peace and stability.

She said provocations during the recent eviction were not by original residents but outsiders attempting to exploit the issue. Labeling such actions as propaganda-driven, she warned against efforts to disrupt public order, adding that the nine-year-old dispute remains the government’s responsibility to resolve peacefully.
