MELAKA – A married couple from the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) are under investigation for allegedly amassing RM900,000 in bribes over four years to open a gold shop and buy a luxury car. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the duo, both in their 40s, allegedly expedited work permit approvals for undocumented workers, charging RM700 per person and pocketing RM150 each. Using family members as proxies, they opened a gold shop with RM600,000 capital. A raid uncovered three kilograms of gold worth RM1.4 million. The pair were remanded under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act.
