SINGAPORE, Sept 14 — Malaysian national Chua Wee Ming, 34, accused of being a key player in Singapore’s illegal e-vaporiser trade, has been held in remand for nearly a year. Arrested in an islandwide operation on Oct 10, 2024, Chua faces charges including cheating and obstructing justice. Authorities allege he orchestrated the importation and distribution of vapes from Malaysia. His name surfaced after a Sembawang warehouse burglary in May 2022, where S$470,000 worth of vapes were stolen. Court documents also link him to using a Singaporean’s identity in 2023 to rent a Woodlands warehouse for vape storage.
