MUNROE FALLS, Ohio, Sept 14 — A local councilman says he and his family have gone into hiding after receiving more than 500 threats over a Facebook post criticizing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was recently assassinated.
John Impellizzeri told the Akron Beacon Journal that federal officials advised him to seek safety, adding, “I’m in physical hiding for fear for my life. The police department is getting death threats.”

His Facebook account has since been deactivated, but screenshots of the post — which included the line, “The world is a better place now that he’s gone” — went viral after being amplified by right-wing accounts.
Impellizzeri insisted he does not condone violence, calling Kirk’s killing “horrendous” and “completely unacceptable.”
