SALT LAKE CITY — Tyler Robinson, accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, will make his first court appearance Tuesday amid lingering questions over motive. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said Robinson, described as left-leaning, had been radicalized online and is refusing to cooperate. Authorities confirmed his trans partner is assisting investigators and was unaware of the alleged plot.

Robinson is on “special watch” in Utah County Jail for mental health evaluation. Investigators also revealed he joked online that a “doppelganger” committed the crime before his family turned him in. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump defended FBI Director Kash Patel, who faces congressional scrutiny over the manhunt. Separately, police in Phoenix arrested Ryder Corral for vandalizing Kirk’s memorial at Turning Point USA headquarters.
