KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — Gerakan Youth has welcomed PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man’s proposal to introduce Mandarin and Tamil in national schools, describing it as progressive and inclusive. However, its secretary-general Andy Tan Hum Wei noted the irony, recalling how PAS previously dismissed Gerakan president Dominic Lau’s unity-focused suggestion. Tan said the latest proposal shows that inclusivity and cultural understanding are vital for Perikatan Nasional’s future. Tuan Ibrahim had said learning each other’s languages would foster stronger inter-ethnic ties, a shift that Gerakan Youth hopes can create common ground for cooperation.
